Selection Procedure

No Written Test: Selection is purely based on merit (percentage of marks in the prescribed qualification).
Merit List: Candidates will be ranked in descending order of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualifying examination (all subjects of all years/semesters considered).
Tie-Breaking: In case of a tie in percentage, the candidate senior by age (date of birth) will be ranked higher. If date of birth is also the same, the candidate with higher percentage in Matriculation will be preferred.
Preference: Candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time will be given preference.
PwBD Candidates: Candidates availing relaxation in eligibility qualification marks will be considered against reserved seats in order of merit within the category.

Training Period: Ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on the trade/discipline.
No Employment Obligation: Upon completion of apprenticeship, IOCL has NO obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim employment rights.
Stipend: As prescribed under Apprentices Act 1961/1973/Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and Corporation’s guidelines.
Personal Protective Equipment: Apprentices selected against Codes 101–107 will be provided one pair of safety shoes and a helmet (returnable upon completion of training).
No HRA/Company Accommodation: No HRA or company accommodation will be provided.
Leave: General Leave – 32 days (8 days per quarter); Casual Leave – 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata); Holidays as observed at the establishment.
Insurance: Apprentices will be covered under suitable Accident Insurance Coverage.
Minimum Marks: 50% aggregate in prescribed qualification (45% for SC/ST and PwBD candidates for reserved seats).
Age Relaxation: SC/ST – 5 years; OBC(NCL) – 3 years; PwBD – 10 years (additional 5 years for SC/ST-PwBD and 3 years for OBC(NCL)-PwBD).
Ineligible Candidates: Candidates with BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent higher qualifications; candidates with 1+ year job experience after qualification (for Engineering Graduate/Diploma/Vocational Certificate holders); candidates who completed prescribed qualification more than 5 years ago; part-time/correspondence/distance education holders.
PwBD Seats: Available only for Codes 102, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 & 111.
