Selection Procedure

  • No Written Test: Selection is purely based on merit (percentage of marks in the prescribed qualification).
  • Merit List: Candidates will be ranked in descending order of aggregate percentage of marks obtained in the prescribed qualifying examination (all subjects, all years/semesters).

  • Training Period: Ranges from 12 to 24 months depending on the trade/discipline.
  • No Employment Obligation: Upon completion of apprenticeship, IOCL has NO obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim employment rights.
  • Stipend: As prescribed under Apprentices Act 1961/1973/Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and Corporation’s guidelines.
  • Personal Protective Equipment: Apprentices selected against Codes 101-107 will be provided one pair of safety shoes and a helmet (returnable upon completion of training).
  • No HRA/Company Accommodation: No House Rent Allowance or company accommodation will be provided.
  • Leave: General Leave – 32 days (8 days per quarter); Casual Leave – 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata); Holidays as observed at Haldia Refinery.
  • Insurance: Apprentices will be covered under suitable Accident Insurance Coverage.
  • Higher Qualification Restriction: Candidates possessing BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent qualifications are NOT eligible.
  • Five-Year Limit: Candidates who have completed five years after acquiring the prescribed qualification as on 30.06.2026 are not eligible.
  • One Year Job Experience Restriction: Engineering Graduate/Diploma/Vocational Certificate holders with one year or more job experience after qualification are not eligible.
  • SC/ST/PwBD Travel Reimbursement: SC/ST/PwBD candidates appearing for Document Verification will be reimbursed single second class railway fare (minimum distance 30 km).
