Principal in the District Institute of Education and Training
- No. of Vacancies: 12 (OBC-A: 01, OBC-B: 01, SC: 04, ST: 01, Unreserved: 05)
- Qualification: i) Master's Degree of two years duration (regular) course, with Honours at Graduation level, having at least 55% marks from a recognised University in any school teaching subject. ii) M.Ed./M.Ed.(Elementary) with 55% marks OR M.A. in Education with 55% marks along with Diploma/Degree in Primary/Elementary Education with 55% marks — all from recognized University/Institute. iii) Five years' experience of teaching in Primary or Elementary Teachers' Training Institute. iv) Knowledge of Bengali language — Spoken and Written. v) Acquisition of Computer Literacy.
- Age Limit: Not more than 42 years as on 01.01.2026. Age relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST candidates; 3 years for OBC candidates; up to 45 years for PwBD candidates.
- Pay Scale: Pay Level-17: Rs. 67,300/- – Rs. 1,73,200/- under WBS (ROPA) Rules, 2019
Selection Procedure

- Screening Test: If the number of applications is large, a Screening Test (MCQ type) may be conducted to shortlist candidates for interview. Marks in the Screening Test will not be counted in the Merit List but will be used only for shortlisting.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview. Qualifying marks in the interview are: Unreserved – 50%, OBC – 48%, SC – 45%, ST – 40%.
- Merit List: Final recommendation will be based on marks obtained in the Interview only.
- Tie-Breaking: In case of a tie in interview marks, preference will be given to the senior candidate by date of birth. If dates of birth are the same, higher percentage of marks in the minimum qualification examination will be considered.
- PwBD Provisions: Candidates with Benchmark Disabilities may be allowed a Scribe and compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour, subject to production of valid Appendix-I certificate.
