Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:

Selection for all three posts is made purely on the basis of GATE 2026 scores in the respective discipline/paper code. No separate written test or interview is conducted.
Separate merit lists are prepared for Asstt. Manager (T) Trainee-Electrical, Asstt. Manager (T) Trainee-Non-Electrical, and Asstt. Manager (Civil) Trainee.
Final selection is based on merit derived from the GATE 2026 score (Normalized Marks out of 100), as per approved selection criteria.
Inter-se seniority of appointed Assistant Manager (Technical) candidates is regulated in a 9:1 ratio between the Electrical and Non-Electrical streams.
Selected candidates undergo one year of training: 3 months of academic training (through NPTI or another training institute as per DTL policy) and 9 months of field/on-the-job training in DTL substations/offices.
Candidates must score a minimum of 65% marks in the training examination and in the final assessment for absorption. Those who do not qualify will not be absorbed into DTL and may represent to the Director (HR) within 15 days.
