Selection of meritorious sportspersons will be based on the following order of preference as per DoPT guidelines:
- First Preference: Candidates who have represented India in International Competition with clearance of the Department of Sports, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
- Second Preference: Candidates who have represented a State/UT in Senior or Junior level National Championships organized by National Sports Federations or National Games organized by Indian Olympics Association and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place. Candidates with medals in Senior National Championship are given preference over Junior level.
- Third Preference: Candidates who have represented a University in Inter-University competitions conducted by Association of Indian Universities/Inter University Sports Board or Khelo India University Games and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.
- Fourth Preference: Candidates who have represented a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games (age above 18 years) or Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place in finals.
- Fifth Preference: Candidates who have represented State Schools in National sports/games for Schools conducted by All-India School Games Federation and have won medals or positions up to 3rd place.
- Sixth Preference: Candidates who represented a State/UT/University/State Schools Teams at levels mentioned in categories (B) to (E) but could not win a medal or position, in the same order of preference.
Skill Tests (Post-specific):
- Stenographer Grade-II: Dictation test for 10 minutes @ 80 w.p.m. and Transcription @ 50 w.p.m. (English) and 65 w.p.m. (Hindi) on Computers.
- Tax Assistant: Data Entry Skill Test @ 8000 key depressions per hour.

- Probation: Selected candidates will be on probation for 2 years or as per extant Government of India instructions.

- Doping: Candidates must be clear in all Doping tests by WADA/NADA. No ongoing investigation regarding doping or unfair means should exist. A declaration to this effect must be submitted.
- Medical Fitness: Medical fitness will be ascertained by O/o Pr. CCIT, Pune Region before formal appointment.
- Police Verification: Appointment is subject to clearance from Police authorities of the candidate’s current place of residence.
