Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- Stage I – INET (Indian Navy Entrance Test) 2/2026: Computer-based online exam with 100 objective-type (MCQ) questions (1 mark each, 0.25 negative marking). Bilingual (Hindi & English). Four sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, and Diploma (Trade Specific). Duration: 1 hour. Separate exams for Engineering and Electrical entries. Exam Fee: Rs. 550/- + 18% GST. Exam tentatively in August 2026.
- Shortlisting for Stage II: Based on marks obtained in Stage I – INET 2/2026, candidates are shortlisted state-wise for respective batches (01/2027 or 02/2027) as per age criteria.
- Stage II – Physical Fitness Test (PFT): Mandatory qualifying test. Standards: 1.6 km run in 6 min 30 sec, 20 Squats, 15 Push-ups, 15 Bent Knee Sit-ups.
- Stage II – Written Examination: Conducted only for PFT qualifiers. 100 questions, 1 mark each, bilingual, objective type. Four sections: English & General Awareness, Science, Mathematics, Diploma (Trade Specific). Duration: 1 hour. Separate exams for Engineering and Electrical streams.
- Recruitment Medical Examination: For PFT qualifiers. Candidates found medically unfit may appeal within 5 days at a designated military hospital.
- Provisional Select List: Prepared based on Stage II written exam performance, subject to PFT and medical qualification. State-wise merit list.
- Pre-Enrolment Medical at INS Chilka: Final medical formalities for all selected candidates at INS Chilka. Induction subject to clearing this medical.
- Note: Sponsor candidates and NCC ‘C’ Certificate holders (verified) are exempted from Stage I – INET and directly called for Stage II.

- Eligibility: Only unmarried Indian Male candidates are eligible. Candidates must remain unmarried throughout the 4-year service tenure.
- Duration of Service: 4 years under the Navy Act 1957. Agniveers form a distinct rank (junior most) in the Indian Navy.
- Leave: 30 days per year + sick leave as per medical advice.
- Life Insurance: Non-contributory Life Insurance Cover of Rs. 48 Lakh for the engagement period.
- Death Compensation: Rs. 48 Lakh insurance + Rs. 44 Lakh ex-gratia (if death attributable to service) to Next of Kin.
- Disability Compensation: Rs. 44/25/15 Lakh based on 100%/75%/50% disability.
- Permanent Enrolment: Up to 25% of each batch may be offered permanent enrolment as Sailors (Artificers) after 4 years, based on performance and organisational requirements. No right to selection.
- No Gratuity/Pension: Agniveers are not entitled to gratuity or pensionary benefits.
- No Ex-Servicemen Status: Agniveers will not be eligible for ex-Servicemen status.
- Medical & CSD Facilities: Available during the engagement period.
- Physical Standards: Minimum height: 157 cm. Tattoos permitted only on inner forearm (elbow to wrist) and back/dorsal side of hand.
- Visual Standards: Uncorrected Vision 6/12, 6/12; Corrected Vision 6/6, 6/6; Colour Perception: CP PASS.
- Training Location: INS Chilka, Odisha.
