- No Written Test: There shall be no written test for selection.
- Merit-Based Selection: Selection shall be based on the percentage of marks in descending order (aggregate of marks of all subjects of all years/semesters) obtained in the prescribed qualification applicable to the trade applied for.
- Tie-Breaking: In case of a tie in percentage of marks, the date of birth (senior by age) shall be the deciding factor. If date of birth is also the same, the candidate with a higher percentage of marks in Matriculation shall be ranked higher.
- Preference: Preference shall be given to candidates applying for apprenticeship training for the first time.
- PwBD Candidates: PwBD candidates who have availed relaxation in eligibility qualification marks will be considered against reserved seats, irrespective of their position in the select list (in order of merit within the category).
- Document Verification: Candidates shortlisted based on merit list shall be called for Document Verification with original documents and self-attested copies.
- Pre-Engagement Medical Fitness: Only candidates declared medically fit as per the Apprentices Act standards shall be considered for engagement.
- Final Offer: Candidates whose documents and pre-engagement medical fitness certificate are found in order shall be issued an offer of engagement.

- Training Period: Varies by trade – 12 months (Codes 101, 102, 104, 105, 106, 107, 109, 110, 111), 15 months (Code 108), 24 months (Code 103).
- No Employment Obligation: Upon completion of apprenticeship, IOCL has NO obligation to offer employment, nor can an apprentice claim employment rights.
- Stipend: As prescribed under Apprentices Act 1961/1973/Apprentices Rules 1992 (as amended) and Corporation’s guidelines.
- Personal Protective Equipment: Apprentices selected against Codes 101–107 shall be provided one pair of safety shoes and a helmet (returnable upon completion of training), wherever applicable.
- No HRA/Company Accommodation: No HRA or company accommodation shall be provided to apprentices.
- Leave: General Leave – 32 days @ 8 days per quarter; Casual Leave – 12 days per calendar year (pro-rata); Holidays as observed at the establishment.
- Insurance: Apprentices shall be covered under suitable Accident Insurance Coverage.
- Eligibility Date: Date of reckoning eligibility criteria is 30-06-2026.
- Higher Qualification Restriction: Candidates possessing BE/B.Tech, MBA, CA, LLB, MCA or equivalent higher professional qualifications are NOT eligible.
- Five-Year Limit: Candidates who have completed five years after acquiring the prescribed qualification as on 30-06-2026 are not eligible.
- One Year Job Experience Restriction: Engineering Graduate, Diploma Holder, or Vocational Certificate holder candidates having job experience of one year or more after attainment of qualification are not eligible.
- Single Trade Application: A candidate can apply for only one trade/discipline. Applications for more than one trade will be summarily rejected.
- B.Sc. Candidates: A candidate with B.Sc. (Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry/Industrial Chemistry) can apply for only one of Code 101, 103, or 108. A B.Com candidate can apply for only Code 108 or 109.
- Part-time/Distance Education: Qualifications acquired through part-time/correspondence/distance education mode are not eligible.
- PwBD Seats: PwBD candidates can apply only against identified seats under Codes 102, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110 & 111.
- SC/ST Travel Reimbursement: SC/ST/PwBD candidates appearing for Document Verification will be reimbursed single second class railway fare from the nearest railway station to the place of Document Verification and back (minimum distance 30 KMs).
