  1. Computer Based Test (CBT): 100 questions for 100 marks; each correct answer carries 1 mark; no negative marking. Duration: 90 minutes. Available in Hindi or English. Minimum qualifying marks: 60% for UR/OBC (NCL)/EWS; 50% for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen. Final selection is on merit basis beyond qualifying marks. Tentative CBT date: November/December 2026.
  2. Medical Fitness Test: As per Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) standards. Medical standards vary by post:

  • Nature of Employment: Notice 33/2026 – Contract basis, 5-year term (no right to regularization). Notice 32/2026 – Direct Recruitment, 2-year probation period.
  • Surety Bond: Supervisors (C01–C08 / D01–D05): ₹4,00,000 for minimum 3 years of service. Non-Supervisors (C09–C10 / D06–D09): ₹3,00,000 for minimum 3 years of service.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST: 5 years; OBC (NCL): 3 years; Ex-Servicemen: Length of military service + 3 years; PwBD-UR/EWS: 10 years; PwBD-OBC (NCL): 13 years; PwBD-SC/ST: 15 years. Maximum upper age (including all relaxations) shall not exceed 50 years.
  • Allowances: In addition to Basic Pay, selected candidates receive Variable Dearness Allowance (VDA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Perks and Allowances under the Cafeteria Approach.
