Assistant Section Officer (Group B, Non-Gazetted)

- Qualification: Essential: Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University/Institute. Preferred/Desirable: (i) Post Graduate degree from a recognized University OR (ii) Degree in Law from a recognized University OR (iii) Degree/Diploma in Journalism/Mass Communication OR (iv) Knowledge of additional Indian language apart from English/Hindi. Typing test: 30 w.p.m in English or 25 w.p.m in Hindi (within 2 years of appointment).

Selection Procedure

- Tier-I (Objective Type Examination): 200 Questions, 200 Marks, Duration: 150 Minutes. Sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning (50 Marks), General Awareness (50 Marks), Mathematical Abilities/Quantitative Aptitude (50 Marks), English Comprehension (50 Marks). Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer. Sectional Cut-off: 40% for UR, 35% for OBC.
- Tier-II (Descriptive Type Examination – Qualifying): Descriptive paper in English or Hindi (Essay/Precis/Letter/Application etc.), Maximum Marks: 100, Duration: 60 Minutes. Cut-off: 65% for UR, 60% for OBC.
- Final Merit List: Prepared solely on the basis of marks obtained in Tier-I Examination. Tier-II is qualifying in nature.
- Tie-Breaking: (i) Marks in Tier-I, (ii) Marks in Section I of Tier-I, (iii) Marks in Tier-II, (iv) Date of Birth (older candidate ranked higher), (v) Alphabetical order of names.
- The Council reserves the right to add an additional Tier in the scheme of Examination.

- Candidates who had applied earlier in response to Advertisement Notice dated 18.05.2024 and were issued Admit Cards for the examination on 04.05.2025 are eligible to appear irrespective of the upper age limit and are exempted from payment of examination fee. They must submit a fresh application mentioning their Roll Number.
- Negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer in Tier-I.
- Tier-I question papers will be bilingual (Hindi & English) except the English Language Comprehension section.
- Tier-II must be answered entirely in either English or Hindi; mixing languages will result in disqualification.
- Mobile phones, calculators, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, or any electronic/electrical devices are strictly prohibited in the examination premises. Possession (even if not in use) will be treated as use of unfair means and candidature will be cancelled; candidates may be debarred for up to 3 years.
- Government/PSU employees must apply through proper channel with No-Objection Certificate.
- OBC candidates must ensure they do not fall under the Creamy Layer as on the closing date of application.
- The number of posts may vary; the Council reserves the right not to fill some or all posts.
- No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test.
