Selection Procedure:

Online Computer Based Test (CBT): Candidates will be selected based on an online CBT. The exam may be conducted in multiple shifts with normalization applied.
For Certified Welder & APA (Mechanical) [Group-B Posts]: Single exam of 100 MCQ questions (2 hours) covering: Discipline-related questions (50), Punjabi Language Knowledge (20), General Knowledge (10), Reasoning (10), General English (10). Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer.
For Laboratory Assistant, Fireman, Technician Grade-1 (Mechanical/Instrumentation), Welder Grade-1, Electrician Grade-1 [Group-C Posts]: Two-part exam (3 hours total): Part-I (Qualifying): 50 MCQ on Punjabi Language (minimum 50% i.e. 25 marks required to qualify; no negative marking). Part-II: 100 MCQ covering Discipline-related questions (50), Punjabi Language Knowledge (20), General Knowledge (10), Reasoning (10), General English (10). Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer in Part-II.
For Bulldozer Operator & Loco Shunter Operator [Group-C Posts]: Two-part exam (3 hours total): Part-I (Qualifying): 50 MCQ on Punjabi Language (minimum 50% required; no negative marking). Part-II: 100 MCQ covering Punjabi Language Knowledge (20), General Knowledge (20), Quantitative Aptitude (20), Reasoning (20), General English (20). Negative marking: 0.25 marks per wrong answer in Part-II.
Minimum Qualifying Marks: General Category: 45% | Reserved Categories (EWS, SC, BC, Ex-Serviceman, Freedom Fighter, Sports Person, PWD): 35%.
Physical Test (Fireman only): Candidates qualifying CBT must also pass the prescribed Physical Fitness Standard: Running 100 yards with 60 kg weight in one minute; Lifting hook ladder to vertical position from 3rd and 6th round; Climbing a rope or vertical pipe to 8-10 feet height. Physical standards for men: Height 5 ft 5 inches, Chest 33.5 inches (unexpanded) / 35 inches (expanded), Eyesight 6/6 both eyes without glasses. (For women: only height and eyesight standards apply.)
Document Checking: Candidates qualifying the online test will be called for document verification of qualifications, age, reservation certificates, etc.
Merit List: Prepared based on marks scored in online CBT (with normalization if multiple shifts). For Sports Person category, merit is prepared by O/o Director/Sports, Punjab. In case of tie, higher age candidate gets higher merit.

Other Important Information

Probation Period: 3 years or as per Punjab Government instructions. During probation, only minimum admissible pay will be paid (no Grade Pay, DA, annual increment, or other allowances except TA and medical reimbursement).
Age Relaxation: SC/BC: 5 years; Ex-Serviceman (Self): Service period deductible (resultant age not to exceed max age by more than 3 years); Physically Handicapped: 10 years; Widow/Divorced/Separated Women: Upper age limit 40 years; PSPCL/PSTCL/Punjab Govt. employees: To the extent of service rendered.
Reservation: Applicable for Punjab Domicile candidates only. Categories include SC (MB/OT), BC, EWS (family income less than Rs. 8 lakh per annum), XSM (Self/Dependent), PWD (minimum 40% benchmark disability), Freedom Fighter, Sports Person.
EWS Certificate: Income and Asset Certificate for FY 2025-26 valid for FY 2026-27 is mandatory for EWS candidates.
Punjabi Language: Knowledge of Punjabi (at least Matriculation level) is mandatory for all posts.

Training: Selected candidates may be deputed for training at Technical Training Institute, PSPCL, Patiala or any other institute in India.
