Selection Procedure

- Written Competitive Examination: Objective type multiple choice exam of 140 marks, duration 2 hours 30 minutes, covering General Knowledge and General Studies. Exam may be conducted in Offline (OMR-based) or Online mode.
- Typing/Shorthand Test: Qualifying in nature, carrying 60 marks. Hindi typing at 25 wpm (computer) is mandatory; preference given to candidates with English typing at 30 wpm (for Junior Assistant) or English shorthand at 80 wpm and English typing at 35 wpm (for Stenographer).
- Negative Marking: 1 mark for each correct answer; 1/4 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: General/OBC – 45%; SC/ST – 35%.
- Preference: In case of equal marks, candidate passing English typing/shorthand will be preferred. Among equal scorers, the older candidate will be ranked higher.
