Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
The selection process consists of four stages with a total of 100 marks:
- Screening Test (50 marks): A Common Screening Test (100 marks, 50% weightage) will be conducted for both Register A-II and Register-C. Merit lists will be prepared separately for each register. Candidates scoring a minimum of 30% marks and ranking within 3 times the number of vacancies (in merit order) will be shortlisted for the interview.
- Total Questions: 100 | Total Marks: 100 | Duration: 2 Hours
- Objective Type – Multiple Choice | Graduation Level Standard
- Language: English and Punjabi
- Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted per wrong answer
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30%
- Assessment of Service Records / ACRs/APARs (20 marks): Last 5 years ACRs will be considered. Grading: Average=1, Good=2, Very Good=3, Outstanding=4 marks per year.
- Length of Service (15 marks): For each completed year of service beyond the mandatory 8 years, 0.54 marks are awarded. Full 15 marks awarded upon completing 36 total years of service.
- Interview (15 marks): The interview panel assesses the candidate’s suitability based on personal qualities. Screening test marks are not disclosed to the interview panel.
Final Result: 50% of Screening Test marks + ACR marks + Length of Service marks + Interview marks = Total 100 marks.

- Eligibility for Register A-II: Open to members of Group A and Group B services of Punjab Government holding ministerial appointments not below the level of Senior Assistants and serving in connection with the affairs of the State of Punjab.
- Eligibility for Register-C: Open to members of Group A and Group B services of Punjab Government NOT covered under Register A-I, A-II, or A-III categories.
- Ineligible Employees: Employees of Universities, Boards, Societies, PUDA, GMADA, PSPCL, PSTCL, Corporations etc. are NOT eligible for either register.
- Register Selection: Candidates must carefully verify from their respective department which Register they fall under before applying. No change in the type of register will be permitted at any stage by PPSC.
- Punjabi Requirement: Proof of having passed Punjabi language up to Matriculation level or its equivalent is required.
- Fee: Fee once paid is non-refundable. No change/edit will be allowed after fee submission.
- Scribe Facility: Available for PwD candidates. Eligible categories include Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arms Affected), and Cerebral Palsy (automatic entitlement). Other PwD candidates may avail scribe on production of certificate from CMO/Civil Surgeon/Medical Superintendent.
- Compensatory Time: Candidates with benchmark disability (40% or more) are eligible for 20 minutes compensatory time per hour of examination.
- Answer Key: Will be uploaded on PPSC website after the exam; candidates can raise objections within 4 days through the online link only.
- Withdrawn Questions: If a question is withdrawn, all candidates will be awarded 1 mark regardless of whether they attempted it or not.
- Screening Test Syllabus: Covers 9 subjects – Civics, Constitution of India, Indian History, Geography, General Science, Punjabi, English, History of Punjab, and General Knowledge (at least 10 questions from each subject).
