Selection Procedure
The detailed selection procedure has been mentioned in the official notification of UPSSSC Excise Constable Bharti 2026. But we are giving you here the short summary of the selection procedure. The candidates are advised to refer to official notification for selection procedure.
Selection Procedure:
- Stage 1 – Shortlisting for Main Examination: Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main (Written) Examination based on their normalized scores in the Preliminary Eligibility Test (PET-2025). Category-wise 15 times the number of advertised posts will be shortlisted (including all candidates up to the final cut-off normalized score up to 2 decimal places). Candidates with zero or negative scores in PET-2025 will not be shortlisted.
- Stage 2 – Main Written Examination: One question paper consisting of 100 objective/multiple-choice questions, duration 2 hours (120 minutes). Each question carries 1 mark. Negative marking of 25% (i.e., 0.25 marks) per wrong answer. Subjects include: History of India & Indian National Movement (5 marks), Geography of India & World (5 marks), Economic & Social Development of India (10 marks), Indian Polity & Constitution (10 marks), General Science & Technology (5 marks), Environmental Ecology & Disaster Management (5 marks), Current Events of National & International Importance (5 marks), Data Interpretation (10 marks), Important Legal Provisions & Policies related to Excise in UP (10 marks), Computer & Information Technology (15 marks), General Information related to Uttar Pradesh (20 marks). Total: 100 marks.
- Stage 3 – Physical Measurement Test (Qualifying): For Male candidates: Chest minimum 80 cm (unexpanded) and minimum 85 cm (expanded); Height minimum 167.6 cm. For Female candidates: Weight minimum 45 kg; Height minimum 152 cm (General), minimum 147 cm (SC/ST).
- Stage 4 – Physical Efficiency Test (Qualifying): Male candidates: 4.8 km run in 25 minutes. Female candidates: 2.4 km run in 14 minutes. Candidates failing to complete the run within the prescribed time will be disqualified.
- Final Selection: Based on marks obtained in the Main Written Examination, subject to qualifying the Physical Measurement Test and Physical Efficiency Test.
- If the examination is held in more than one shift/day, normalization of scores will be applied as per the prescribed procedure.

- Login using your PET-2025 Registration Number via OTP sent to your registered mobile number/email.
- Fill in the application form with personal details (auto-populated from PET-2025 data) and educational qualification details.
- Enter the verification code and click the Submit button to generate the application form with an 11-digit registration number.
- Upload photo and signature (auto-populated from PET-2025; no changes allowed).
- Fill in other details including post preference and preferential qualification (if any).
- Read and accept the declaration, enter the verification code, and click Save and Submit.
- Pay the application fee via Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking/UPI or SBI e-Challan as per the prescribed process.
- After successful fee payment and reconciliation, the application form will be auto-submitted. Download and print the application form for future reference.

Other Important Information
- Eligibility for Main Exam: Only candidates who appeared in PET-2025 and have been issued a PET-2025 Score Card by the Commission are eligible to apply for the Main Examination.
- Preferential Qualification: Preference will be given to candidates who have (a) served in the Territorial Army for a period of two years, or (b) obtained the ‘B’ Certificate of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
- Reservation: Vertical reservation for SC, ST, OBC, and EWS as per UP government rules. Horizontal reservation for Women (20%), Ex-Servicemen, Dependants of Freedom Fighters, Persons with Disabilities (4%), and Outstanding Sportspersons as per applicable UP government orders.
- EWS Certificate: Must be issued between 01-04-2026 and 24-06-2026, based on income of financial year 2025-26, and valid for financial year 2026-27.
- Age Relaxation: 5 years for employees serving in state subordinate services (as per GO dated 27-08-2013). Additional relaxation for SC/ST, OBC, PwD, Ex-Servicemen, DFF, and CM Fellowship researchers as per applicable rules.
- Date of Birth: Only the date of birth as recorded in the High School (Class 10th) or equivalent certificate will be accepted.
- Application Modification: After final submission, candidates can modify only: (a) Correspondence address, (b) EWS and horizontal reservation category details, (c) Mandatory/preferential qualification details, (d) Marital status. Modification is allowed only up to 01-07-2026.
- Candidates Under Investigation (UI) / Provisional in PET-2025: Such candidates are provisionally allowed to apply, but their shortlisting and selection will be subject to the outcome of the Commission’s investigation.
- Exam Fee for Main Examination: Exam fee for the Main Examination will be paid separately only by shortlisted candidates, before downloading the Main Exam admit card.
- No personal correspondence: The Commission does not correspond personally with candidates. All information is uploaded on the official website upsssc.gov.in.
- Applicable Act: Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act-2024 (dated 06-08-2024) will be applicable to this examination.
- Disqualification: Candidates with more than one living spouse, those providing false information, or those found involved in malpractice will be disqualified and may be debarred from future examinations.
