Selection Procedure

- Single Stage Computer Based Test (CBT): Objective Multiple Choice Type questions. The question paper will be available in English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Marathi, and Urdu.
- Negative Marking: 1/3rd of marks allotted for each question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
- Minimum Qualifying Marks: UR – 40%, OBC – 30%, SC – 30%, ST – 25%. Relaxation of 2% for PwBD candidates in case of shortage against reserved vacancies.
- Tie-breaking: In case of equal marks, older candidate gets higher merit; if age is also same, alphabetical order (A to Z) of name is used.
- Document Verification (DV): Candidates equal to the number of notified vacancies will be called for DV after CBT results are declared.
- Medical Examination: Shortlisted candidates will undergo Medical Fitness Test as prescribed by Railway Administration.
- Normalisation: Raw marks for single session and normalized marks for multi-session papers will be used for computing Merit Index.

- Only eligible serving regular/permanent employees of erstwhile South Central Railway (including BZA, GTL, GNT Divisions & RYPS, TPYS workshops) are eligible. RPF/RPSF employees are excluded.
- Employees drawing pay on a substantive basis (excluding MACP/Adhoc promotion) and working in a grade/pay level lower than the notified post are eligible.
- Candidates must remain on the rolls of SCR Zone till the completion of the selection process. Transfer to another Zone will result in rejection of candidature.
- Candidates must report with a relieving letter (e-Call letter) and a valid Railway Photo ID card for CBT and DV.
- There is no separate reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) as per Railway Board’s letter No. E(NG)I-2018/PM1/23 dated 02/05/2019.
- RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistants, and Catering Supervisors are not eligible to apply under GDCE scheme.
- Selected employees will be subjected to initial training of the same duration as prescribed for directly recruited employees through RRBs.
- The number of vacancies is provisional and may increase, decrease, or become NIL depending on actual needs of Railway Administration.
- Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere on erstwhile South Central Railway.
- For any legal issues, jurisdiction shall be under Hon’ble Central Administrative Tribunal, Hyderabad Bench only.
- PwBD candidates should indicate option for scribe in the online application if eligible. Scribe facility is mandatory for Blindness, Locomotor Disability (Both Arms affected – BA), and Cerebral Palsy categories.
