Selection Procedure

Selection Procedure:
- No interview and no written exam will be conducted.
- Eligible candidates shall be selected from the Apprenticeship Portal Database (NAPS/NATS).
- Selection shall be based on merit list prepared for all applicants.
- For ITI Trades (Lineman & Electrician): Merit list will be prepared on the basis of 30% weightage to 10th class marks and 70% weightage to ITI marks in the concerned trade (Total: 100 marks).
- For Non-ITI Trade (Gardner): Selection as per Apprenticeship Act 1961.
- Preference: 25% seats for each trade will be given to candidates possessing residency certificate of the concerned district where the Grid Sub Station is located (District Ludhiana for Jamalpur Substation; District Barnala for Barnala Substation).
- If reserved seats persist, they will be given to candidates with residency certificate of the State where the Grid Sub Station is located.
- If still unfilled, remaining seats shall be filled through open merit.
- In case of tie in marks, the candidate with older age shall be given preference.
- If dates of birth are also same, the candidate who passed matriculation earlier shall be considered first.

- Apprenticeship is under the Apprenticeship Act 1961 for the year 2026-27 at O&M Division, BBMB, Jamalpur (Ludhiana).
- Total 20 apprentice posts across 3 trades: Lineman (15), Electrician (03), Gardner (02).
- Out of 15 Lineman posts, 7 are to be filled immediately. The remaining 8 will be issued as and when vacancies arise within the next 6 months.
- Aadhaar Card is compulsory for online registration.
- Candidates whose results are still awaited on the last date of receipt of applications will not be considered.
- Candidates who have already undergone or are undergoing apprenticeship training in any other establishment under Apprenticeship Act 1961 should not apply.
- Contracts with selected candidates will be registered under NAPS Portal.
- The place of deployment for apprenticeship training shall be decided by the competent authority based on administrative requirements. Requests for a specific place of posting are generally not considered.
- Result of engagement of apprentices shall be uploaded on BBMB website through the office of System Software Manager, BBMB, Chandigarh.
- Reservation shall be as per Apprentice Act 1961 and its amendments from time to time.
