  • The full form of UAN is Universal Account Number.
  • There is an organization in India named Employee Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO).
  • EPFO allot Universal Account Number (UAN) to employee.
  • Employer contribute to employee provident fund to EPFO on the account of employee UAN.
  • So, all amount which is contributed by employer has credited to the employee account.
  • So, its like bank account of employee in EPFO.
  • Employee can withdraw and transfer the amount whenever he changes his job.

How to Check Your UAN ?

There are two options to know your universal account number or UAN.

  1. By Employer
  2. By UAN Portal using PF Number/Member ID
  3. By UAN Portal using Aadhaar
  4. By UAN Portal using PAN

By Employer

Normally, employers print UAN on the employee salary slip. In some cases, it is not available in salary slip then you can get it from your employer.

Know Your UAN by PF Number/Member ID

There is very easy option available on UAN portal to know your UAN by using your PF number or member ID. Here is the step by step procedure to check UAN on UAN portal.

Step 1: Visit the link https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 2: Click on the “Know Your UAN Status” at the below right hand corner or the website or direct go to here https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/

Step 3: Enter your Member ID, state, office region, date of birth, mobile no, captcha code.

Step 4: Don’t be confuse over establishment ID and Member ID. You can get it on your PF number. For example your PF number is RJ/RAJ/111111/333333. So your establishment ID is 111111 and your member ID is 333333.

Step 4: Click on “Get Authorization Pin”.

Step 5: Now, you will get Universal Account Number on your mobile.

How to Register/Activate UAN

The registration of UAN is very simple. Please follow the following steps.

  • Step 1: Visit  https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ – Click Here
  • Step 2: Click on “Activate UAN” or go to direct link here https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/no-auth/uanActivation/activationForm?_HDIV_STATE_=16-7-D53FACBE62F8C475699EEC400D6B51E5
  • Step 3: Enter basic information about member ID, Aadhaar, DOB, email ID, PAN, Mobile number and more
  • Step 4: Click on Get Authorization PIN. You will get the PIN on your mobile number.
  • Step 5: Enter your PIN to verify the information
  • Step 6: Now, create your username and Password on UAN online portal.

Know your UAN by Aadhaar Card

You can get your UAN only by entering Aadhaar number. But for this purpose, you need to link your Aadhaar card to your UAN (PF Account). If your Aadhaar Card is already linked to your PF then you can get your UAN with your Aadhaar with in seconds by following the below steps.

Step 1: Visit this link https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/ – Click Here

Step 2: Click on “Know your UAN Status”.

Step 3: Click on Aadhaar and enter your Aadhaar number.

Step 4: Fill the Name, DOB, Mobile No., Email ID and Captcha.

Step 5: Enter your OTP which sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Thats it! You will get your UAN on your registered mobile.

Know your UAN by PAN

You can get your UAN only by entering PAN. The procedure is same as Aadhaar.

Step 2: Click on “Know your UAN Status”.

Step 3: Click on PAN and enter your PAN.

Step 4: Fill the Name, DOB, Mobile No., Email ID and Captcha.

Step 5: Enter your OTP which sent on your registered mobile number.

Step 6: Thats it! You will get your UAN on your registered mobile.

How to Link Aadhaar with UAN

You can only withdraw your PF balance by linking your UAN with Aadhaar. Here are simple steps to link Aadhaar with UAN.

Step 1: Download Umang APP – Download Now!

Step 2: Then Search EPFO service on Umang App.

Step 3: Click on “eKYC services”.

Step 4: Click on “Aadhaar Seeding”.

Step 5: Enter UAN, the system will send OTP on your mobile after entering UAN.

Step 6: Enter OTP after that you need to enter Aadhaar number.

Step 7: Now again OTP will be sent on you Aadhaar registered mobile number.

Step 8: Enter OTP, now your UAN and Aadhaar will be linked automatically.
