TNSET 2024 Application Form Fee

The fee structure for the TNSET 2024 online application form is as follows: General candidates are required to pay Rs. 2500/-, BC/MBC/DNC candidates must pay Rs. 2000/-, and SC/ST/SC(A)/PwD (VI, HI, PH) candidates need to pay Rs. 800/-. Instructions for TNSET 2024 Application Process

Candidates are advised to thoroughly read the Instructions provided in the Information Bulletin available on the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University Website. Failure to comply with these Instructions will lead to disqualification.

Online Application Process

  1. Application Mode: Candidates can apply for TNSET 2024 only through the “Online” mode. Applications submitted through any other mode will not be accepted.
  2. Steps for Online Application:
    • Download the Information Bulletin and ensure eligibility.
    • Apply for Online Registration using your Email Id and Mobile No.
    • Fill the Online Application Form and note the Application Number.
    • Upload scanned images of your photo and signature as per specifications.
    • Pay the examination fee using Debit Card/Credit Card/Net Banking/UPI.
    • Save and print the Confirmation Page for future reference.
  3. Important Notes:
    • Complete all three steps together or separately.
    • Application is considered successful only after fee payment confirmation.
    • Incomplete applications will be rejected with no refund.

Correct Information and Final Submission

Eligibility Criteria for TNSET 2024

i. Academic Qualifications:

  • Candidates with at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent from UGC-recognized universities/institutions are eligible.
  • SC/SC(A)/ST/PwD/Third gender candidates with 50% marks in Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible.

ii. Provisional Eligibility:

  • Candidates pursuing or awaiting results of their Master’s degree or equivalent can apply provisionally.
  • Provisionally admitted candidates must pass their Master’s degree within two years from TNSET result declaration.

iii. Relaxation for Ph.D. Holders:

  • Ph.D. degree holders completing their Master’s before 19 September 1991 get a 5% relaxation (from 55% to 50%) for TNSET.

iv. Subject of Examination:

  • Candidates should appear in the subject of their Post-Graduation.
  • Those with subjects not in TNSET’s list may consider UGC-NET/joint CSIR-UGC Test.

v. Equivalence Verification:

  • Candidates with foreign diplomas/degrees should verify equivalence with recognized Indian universities through AIU, New Delhi (www.aiu.ac.in).

vi. Age Limit:

  • There is no upper age limit for TNSET applicants.

Pattern of TNSET 2024 Examination

i. Test Structure:

  • TNSET follows the pattern of UGC-NET with two papers.

ii. Paper Details:

  • Paper I: Paper I tests to assess the general knowledge, teaching capabilities, research aptitude, reasoning ability, reading omprehension, higher education system, people and development, environment, mathematical aptitude, divergent thinking and general awareness of the Candidate.
    • Marks: 100
    • Questions: 50 MCQs
  •  Paper II: tests the understanding of the domain knowledge of the candidate in the PG subject chosen from the list of TNSET subjects
    • Marks: 200
    • Questions: 100 MCQs
  • Both papers are in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode without a break between them.

iii. Duration:

  • Total Duration: 3 hours (180 minutes) without breaks.
  • All questions in Paper I are compulsory.

Syllabus and Medium:

  • Syllabus: Same as UGC-NET/CSIR-NET; no individual syllabus sent.
  • Medium: English for all except Paper II of language subjects (Tamil, Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Telugu, and Urdu).

Marking Scheme:

  • No negative marking for incorrect answers.
